Thailand could introduce a fee for tourists: how much it would cost from June

Starting in June 2023, Thailand could introduce a fee for tourists, as announced by Tourism Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, quoted by Bangkok media. According to what has been learned, the date of arrival and not the date of booking the trip may prevail to apply the fee. While waiting for the government to give the final go-ahead, it is known that the fee should be around 9 euros (300 baht) and that it will be applied, presumably, through air tickets. The hypothesis, from what filters from Bangkok, is that the money collected through the payment of the fee goes to cover medical expenses for foreigners involved in accidents or injuries within the country but also to support investments for development in tourist destinations.

Runestone discovered in Norway: will it be able to reveal what we still do not know about the runic alphabet?

During an excavation of a tomb found in the municipality of Hole, Norway, archaeologists from the Museum of Cultural History in Oslo have discovered an ancient runestone that could be between 1800 and 2000 years old. The discovery was made in autumn 2021 but would have been made known only now, after carrying out some studies and surveys on the find. According to archaeologists, the runestone dates back to the period between 0 and 250 AD and therefore belongs to what is defined as the Roman Iron Age. The runestone could be the first example of words recorded in writing in Scandinavia and could also help to understand both the origin of the runic alphabet, about which little is known, and who composed this Germanic written language.
